7-day old Squash Seedlings
I am so amazed at how quickly these squash seedlings are growing. These are now 7 days old. We've had to remove them from the covered tray and put them into their own small tray.
They reach towards the direction of the sunlight. (My hubby likes to rotate the tray as you can see here and the following morning the squash seedlings will be pointing towards the window).
The picture below is taken at our computer/study room on the 2nd floor. We've filled it with lots of books still waiting for us to read. This is where I blog or catch up with my emails, or do my work from home (when I've had to take work home).
It's a north facing room which catches less sun during the day than our sunny backyard does, so we elected to paint it tropical orange to brighten it up during gloomy winters.
I love to watch the sky change colors and fade into dusk from this window...

Thanks Erin :) We have a vacation coming up at the end of June, so we're probably going to plant many of the seedlings into the ground before we leave (3 weeks) or when we get back (5 weeks).
We're going to have to rely on the sprinkler system for timed waterings.
One of our favorite ways to eat yellow squahs is to marinate sliced squash in Italian dressing + a bit of soy sauce + garlic powder, roast it in the oven for 1/2 hour and serve over white rice.
I'm going to keep checking your cooking blog (which I love) to see what your going to try next!
Thanks for leaving me comments. Do come back and see my tomato and chili!
Your office space looks amazing! I was living in Seattle for four years and I loved it. Now we are living in Scotland where we can't find big apartments in affordable prices. Really hate the housing here. Would love to move back to the States. Which state do you stay in?
Hi Loretta, a lot of the romance books I read are set in Scotland :) Is it as beautiful there as the literature paints it? Seattle also sounds exciting. I would so love to visit there some day.
We've lived in Virginia pretty much all of our marriage (and we both grew up and went to school here). Sometimes I've wanted to just pick up and move somewhere else (like Hawaii), but all of our friends and most of our family live here, so you could say we are rooted where we are. (no pun intended)
